Google has said it will ask racist victims to go health leave amidst accusations of racist claims. The tech firm has said it will respond to complaints urgently.
Google HR to ask racially accused workers to proceed on leave
Tech giant Google has told staff in America who have suffered any form of racism or sexism to apply for medical leave and therapy. There have been some cases involving Google staff being subjected to racism claims. A staff member said going on leave might be a good suggestion after several talks with HR.
However, some staff members have said it reeks of Hypocrisy as they had been removed from their job when they complained and been subjected to racism. The firm has said they didn't do anything wrong and will investigate claims '' Our firm has a structured procedure which allows our staff to table their concerns with the hierarchy.
This process is fair and unbiased, any staff that has issues should come up with evidence '' Google said. According to Benjamin Cruz, a former employee, He said they had complained to the firm about a racial slur about another colleague, but nothing was done.
'' immediately I reported a racial issue to the firm, jobs were taken from me, duties were reassigned, it seems they supported it'.
Facebook also accused of racial discrimination
Another employee said she knew of about 9 people who had recommended leave after suffering from abuse, and they were wondering what benefits a medical leave will do to someone who is maligned. Google is not the only tech firm accused of bias based on sex and race as Facebook suffered a similar feat last week.
However, their spokesperson, Andy Stone has debunked such insinuations and said Facebook is a place for all. '' We pride ourselves as a top firm which is fair to all our staff. Anyone with racial or sexual issues should complain to the right authority. ''
